I just had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly, and the location was fantastic. However, the dining experience left something to be desired. Overall, a great value for the money.

Rooms
8.0
The room was set up perfectly with a large desk and two giant windows for light, and a huge TV on the wall that lined up with the bed perfectly. It was a little noisy on Saturday morning due to some sort of race going on in the front of the hotel, but overall, it was really clean.
Service
9.0
The service was awesome! The staff, who happened to speak in a very high-pitched voice, was great with check-in and out very fast.
Location
7.0
The location was equal to a high-quality home, just around the block from Birmingham without being directly downtown. It was great in Homewood by food and shopping, but it woefully underperformed the $155/night rate.
Dining
5.0
The dining options were a bit poor and seemed to be at the level of low-end hotels. It should offer a buffet, even if guests have to pay for it. However, they did have fresh and local products.
Facilities
8.0
The facilities were well-maintained and convenient, offering everything one might need during their stay.

7.6/10

The hotel rooms are perfectly set up for a one or a couple, featuring a large desk, ample natural light from huge windows, and a wall-mounted TV. However, they lack drawers or clothing storage beyond 6 hangers and a curtain. The service provided, particularly by Elaine, was very good and attentive, offering perks like fresh towels and vouchers. The location is convenient for various activities, being near food, shopping, downtown, and Samford University. The dining options had some drawbacks, but the hotel facilities were overall satisfactory.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms are due for renovation in 2024 and are lacking in drawers or clothing storage, but are well-equipped with a large desk, plenty of natural light, and a large TV.

The service was top-notch with friendly and attentive staff like Elaine, who went the extra mile to ensure guest satisfaction.
Location

The location is fantastic, being close to key spots like Samford University, downtown, and offering a friendly atmosphere for walking around.

While there were some dining drawbacks noted, such as limited breakfast options, the overall dining experience was decent.

Upon arrival, the hotel seemed a bit musty and in need of updating, but our room surprised us with its cleanliness and great amenities. The WiFi was a bit slow, but fortunately, I had a laptop with an Ethernet connection. The loose security safe in the wall was a concern, though.

Rooms
7.0
The room was very clean and had great amenities, but the musty smell at arrival and the loose security safe in the wall were points of concern. Some updating is definitely needed.
Service
9.0
The service was friendly, professional, and always helpful - a bright spot in our stay.
Location
8.0
While the hotel needs updating, the location was fantastic with good restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping all within walking distance. Unfortunately, the room setup facing the shower wasn't ideal.
Dining
7.0
The dining experience was good, but having the guest pay for it or the limited $15 per guest option was a bit restricting.
Facilities
6.0
The facilities were average, and the hotel could use some updates.

The hotel has a standard Aloft room, but unfortunately, it had a strong unpleasant smell each time we turned on something in the room. On the bright side, we had a balcony overlooking the street, although lacking chairs during our five-day stay.

Rooms
5.0
The room had a standard Aloft layout but had an awful smell when something was turned on. The balcony overlooking the street was a nice touch, although it lacked chairs throughout our stay.
Service
9.0
The service was impeccable. The staff was friendly, and they even provided me with fresh towels and a $5 bar voucher. The only drawback was one staff member speaking in a very high-pitched voice instead of recommending ordering food from the bar like the others.
Location
8.0
The location was great, being conveniently situated near food, shopping, downtown, and Samford University. It was central to explore both downtown Birmingham and the corporate areas of Homewood. The area was bustling with activity and provided easy access to various attractions.
Dining
6.0
The breakfast experience was not up to par. It felt more like a budget hotel with breakfast served in a bag, rather than a buffet-style meal. However, they offered American-inspired dishes which was a plus.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel had standard facilities such as housekeeping, shops, laundry services, and welcome drink amenities. Unfortunately, missing aspects like pet amenities.

My stay at the hotel was overall satisfying. The rooms, though a bit smaller than expected, were cozy and perfect for both work and rest. The service was exceptional, with the staff being super nice and even going out of their way to provide my boys with some complimentary treats. The location was ideal for all the sites I needed to visit, and the added bonus of a pool table made it even more inviting. However, the dining options were a bit limited, and the facilities were somewhat sparse.

The hotel exceeded my expectations with spacious rooms great for our bridal party, despite a slight delay in readiness due to overbooking. The European design was charming, but there was some noise from a race event outside.

Rooms
8.0
The rooms were larger than I expected, perfect for our bridal party preparations, but the wait for readiness was a downside. The European layout and design added a nice touch, although noise from the race event outside was a bit disruptive.
Service
9.0
The service was fantastic, very friendly and attentive, though there was a small oversight with clean towels. They did a great job securing a taxi right on time for us.
Location
9.0
The location was superb, within walking distance of excellent restaurants and ideal for exploring Homewood. Easy access to downtown Birmingham and corporate areas. The lively food scene nearby was a plus.
Dining
7.0
The healthy and tasty dining options were enjoyable, but the offerings felt a bit limited. I preferred going to Salem's Diner for breakfast.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities were good overall, offering the necessary amenities. An improvement in the dining offerings could enhance the experience.
